So for this intro post, let me tell you a bit about me & my hockey life. I'm an 18-year old hockey fanatic hailing from Buffalo, NY. I have been a fan of this game since I was six years old (just as Memorial Auditorium closed, and the eventual HSBC Arena was being built.) My first hockey memory was driving downtown with my family every week to see the construction of the new Arena, and my love for the sport has grown endlessly since then.
My #1 team is the Sabres - always has been, always will be. But I also really love the Penguins and the Blackhawks... and have soft spots for the Blues, Senators, Canucks, and several other teams. To date, I have 46 hockey shirts, 150 hockey songs, and a billion hockey things in my bedroom.
I have many memories of hockey events from when I was younger, and some of my hockey experiences have truly been the best moments of my life, including the 2008 Winter Classic, several playoff games, and a recent game. But I'll save that for a real post.
I know the sport. I'm not a puckbunny, and I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those pink (or even the ice blue) jerseys. If you're a true fan, you wear the real jersey - simple as that. I'm opinionated about hockey, and I'm not afraid to show it. That being said - I'm still a girl, and I still get fangirl-y and fawn over my boys sometimes. Deal with it.
So this blog will be a combination of game experiences/thoughts, rants & raves and news updates. It will also feature pictures & videos I find online to share with you all - and I've found some good ones.
Let's count down the days till training camp together! I leave you with a quote and a video, one of my favorite old hockey commercials.
"Hockey is life; nothing else matters"
